Bien que la batterie pr\u00e9sente de nombreux avantages par rapport \u00e0 d'autres sources d'\u00e9nergie, elle pr\u00e9sente \u00e9galement des limites importantes qui doivent \u00eatre prises en compte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Stockage de l'\u00e9nergie<br><\/strong>Les piles stockent l'\u00e9nergie assez bien et pendant longtemps. Le Li-ion a une efficacit\u00e9 de charge de 99 % et la perte de d\u00e9charge est faible. En comparaison, l'efficacit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique de la pile \u00e0 combustible est de 20 \u00e0 60 %, et celle du moteur \u00e0 combustion interne de 25 \u00e0 30 %. \u00c0 une vitesse et une temp\u00e9rature d'admission d'air optimales, le GE90-115 de l'avion de ligne Boeing 777 atteint un rendement de 37 %. Le co\u00fbt de l'\u00e9nergie tir\u00e9e d'une batterie est environ trois fois plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 que celui de l'\u00e9nergie tir\u00e9e du r\u00e9seau \u00e9lectrique. Le calcul comprend le co\u00fbt de la batterie, sa recharge \u00e0 partir du r\u00e9seau et la budg\u00e9tisation d'un \u00e9ventuel remplacement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Maintenance<\/strong><br>\u00c0 l'exception de l'arrosage des batteries au plomb inond\u00e9es et de l'exercice des NiCd pour \u00e9viter la \"m\u00e9moire\", les batteries rechargeables ne n\u00e9cessitent que peu d'entretien. L'entretien consiste \u00e0 nettoyer l'accumulation de corrosion sur les bornes ext\u00e9rieures et \u00e0 effectuer des contr\u00f4les de performance p\u00e9riodiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dur\u00e9e de vie<br><\/strong>La batterie rechargeable a une dur\u00e9e de vie relativement courte et vieillit m\u00eame si elle n'est pas utilis\u00e9e. La dur\u00e9e de vie de 3 \u00e0 5 ans est satisfaisante pour les produits de consommation, mais elle n'est pas acceptable pour les batteries plus importantes. Les batteries des v\u00e9hicules hybrides et \u00e9lectriques sont garanties pour 8 \u00e0 10 ans ; la pile \u00e0 combustible offre 2 000 \u00e0 5 000 heures de service et, en fonction de la temp\u00e9rature, les grandes batteries stationnaires ont une dur\u00e9e de vie de 5 \u00e0 20 ans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Temp\u00e9ratures extr\u00eames<br><\/strong>Comme la m\u00e9lasse, les temp\u00e9ratures froides ralentissent la r\u00e9action \u00e9lectrochimique et les batteries ne fonctionnent pas bien en dessous du point de cong\u00e9lation. La charge rapide doit toujours \u00eatre effectu\u00e9e au-dessus du point de cong\u00e9lation.
