Storage of Idle Agricultural Machinery Battery

The use of agricultural machinery is generally seasonal, with short usage periods and long idle times. Therefore, proper storage of the battery is crucial.

For short-term storage, the wet storage method can be used. Fully charge the battery, ensuring the electrolyte’s specific gravity and liquid level meet the specified values. Tighten the fill cap, clean the exterior, and store the battery in a ventilated and dry indoor area. During the storage period, regularly check the electrolyte’s specific gravity or the voltage of individual cells. If the charge drops by 25%, recharge the battery immediately.

For long-term storage, the dry storage method should be used. After fully charging the battery, discharge it completely at a 20-hour discharge rate. Pour out the electrolyte, rinse the battery multiple times with distilled water until the water is free of acid. Drain the water, allow the battery to dry, then tighten the fill cap and seal the battery for storage.

When the battery is ready to be re-used, first ensure it is fully charged.
